I always wanted one of those Betty Crocker toy baking ovens. Looking back at that toy, I’m actually amazed one can bake using a light bulb. In any case, my parents were too cheap (and ultimately too smart) to buy me a limited use toy. Instead they gave me a Betty Crocker Junior cookbook. They’ve significantly changed the recipes in the newer editions. This recipe was one of my favorites from an out of print version. I think the newer Junior cookbooks dumb down the recipes so there’s less cooking and more construction.
