I was browsing Trader Joes the other day as I was picking up lunch and a blue ceramic little pot caught my eye as I was looking at the blue cheeses. It was a little cobalt blue ceramic pot of Stilton cheese with the Trader Joes rebranding. It was $9.99 for the pot of Stilton.
One of the combinations I really love is pear with blue cheese on crackers/bread or grapes and blue cheese. The sweetness of the fruit really compliments the blue cheese flavor. This Stilton cheese benefits from warming up to room temperature – around 65-72F or so and the spreadability of the cheese changes from crumbly to easily spread.
When I went to checkout, the team member told me I was the first person she had seen who purchased it and that it was a seasonable item. You can reuse this little pot and I think it would make a nice addition to my kitchen counter. I purchased two types of crackers to go along with the cheese – stone ground crackers as well as a seasonal Pistachio and Pomegranate crisp.
Stilton is a relatively strong blue cheese and the sweetness from the Pomegranate cracker really went well.
